About

Dreamin’ Songwriter

Learn

Hi! I’m Jerry Haugen (AKA The Dreamin’ Songwriter and Tales N. Tune).  I create music for you and my publishing company,  Global Creations LLC.

Jerry Haugen ICON

I write Contemporary songs in a variety of genres, in the traditional storytelling style, thus “Tales in Tune.”  Some of my songs are designed for kids and others are more for adults. Some are educational, others are about love and relationships, life on the farm, the outdoors, or just fun (or funny) stories.

Dreamin’ Singers is my performance group.  At the moment it’s a virtual group performing demos of my songs.  I am not a performer. If you record a live performance video of any of my songs and post it to YouTube, let me know and I’ll replace the virtual demo with your real performance.

I write with purpose.

Sometimes that purpose is simple: to entertain—to give you a tune that sticks, a line you can’t stop quoting, or a chorus you find yourself humming in the kitchen.

Other times it runs deeper:

  • To draw out emotions—to make you laugh, cry, or sit quietly for a beat afterward
  • To help you recognize yourself—in a character, a situation, a single honest line
  • To influence and encourage—to nudge perspective, to offer hope, to spark courage
  • To educate—not like a lecture, but like a story that teaches by showing.
  • To capture everyday events—the stuff we all live through, but rarely slow down to name

    My collaborator

Even though the life experience, writing and point of view are mine, I don’t pretend this is a solo act. My wife, Trish is my “creative crew.” She is an excellent musician and my most important human checkpoint. She helps make sure the songs stay human, real, and good—not just clever on paper, but true when you actually sing them.

    What you can expect here

If you’re listening, reading, or following along, you’ll find songs that aim to be:

    • honest, even when they’re funny
    • clear, even when they’re poetic – well, sometimes obscure to get you thinking,
    • human, even when the storytelling gets wild

I’m chasing that moment where a listener says:

    “Yep. That’s me.”

“I didn’t know anyone else felt that.”

    “I needed that today.”

    “What are you talking about?”

If that sounds like your kind of music, welcome. I’m glad you’re here and hopefully find a song to enjoy and even perform.

    For Performers and Venues

If you are looking for a song in a particular genre, don’t!  Find a lyric that you can perform in YOUR chosen genre. Learn why I say that, on the About>Genres Page. The copyright information, below, does not limit your ability to perform the songs at no cost at any venue you choose.

If you write your own songs or use music in  your business, please  join ASCAP and file a “Concert Notification Form” with them for each of your performances. Once registered the process is simple.  This builds value for all of us by recording our performance histories for the record labels to see.

As a songwriter , I do not get paid until you record my songs or perform them at large venues like concert halls, arenas, and festivals or get them onto streaming platforms. Once you get to that level, my publisher, Global Creations LLC, collects royalties through ASCSP or BMI from the venue, your label or your promoter.  Global Creations then pays me.  As you can see, I’m on your side!!

    About Copyrights

I retain and reserve all rights to the lyrics, song sheets, demos and graphics that I create. That means that you may not claim ownership in any of the materials here or sell them for any purpose without expressed written permission from me.
